Collection: Berber Boucherouite rug

Collection of vintage and new Boucherouite rugs. Boucherouite Berber rugs are traditional Moroccan rugs . These kilims are made from recycled fabrics (linen, cotton, wool, etc.). While they are sometimes called "poor man's rugs," this is in no way a pejorative term for us. Moroccan women who couldn't afford wool to make rugs got into the habit of using old clothes and cutting the fabric into strips to create these multicolored Boucherouite rugs, sometimes also called Boucharouette. Today, some would call this upcycling. I prefer to say it's simply common sense and economical. These colorful patchwork rugs are small, unique, and handcrafted collector's items. The epitome of bohemian chic decor, they are perfect for children's or students' rooms. More affordable than Azilal or black and white Beniwar kilims, our bush-knotted kilims are often just as charming and lend a bohemian rather than bourgeois feel to your interior décor. Vintage bush-knotted kilims are nonetheless true collector's items. They represent authentic hand-knotted rug craftsmanship that transcends trends and eras while remaining affordable, at around €50 to €100 per square meter.

Handmade in cotton, linen, velvet and sometimes even woven with a little wool, the Boucherouite kilim is machine washable and easy to care for.
